Things Oversea Students Gonna / Might Miss When They Leave Aussie (Brisbane Version)

- Nando's Australia

I don't know other people, but for me Nando's in my country is not as delicious as Aussie's. I think this has to do with the grilling sauce. Don't get me wrong, the Nando's in my country still delicious though.
Usually I ordered whole chicken with fries, hot level. First time I taste the sauces, it wasn't too good, but after a while got addicted to it. But not so nice when they overgrilled it until black.

- That greek sub, Souvlaki Hut
a combo or large size lamb/ beef souv would make you a satisfying breakfast/ lunch/ dinner.
Among the delicious is beef/ lamb together with fries wrapped with the yellow sauce.

- Kebab
Seriously, until now i haven't found any delicious kebab as in Aussie. One of the best is Ispa Kebab at Harbour Town, Queensland. With soft and crunchy wrap, succulent meat and fresh vege, this is hard to resist.

- Direct Factory Outlet (DFO) and Harbour Town
These two are kind of tax free/ tax-exempted shopping centers consists of big brands (eg. fossils, puma, corelle, nike, converse, rivers, esprit etc.) at massive discounts.

- That smooth riding bus running on gas
Brisbane bus routes are set for a revamp.

- The beautiful biological science library

Interior Entrance to biological science library!

- Purple jacarandas in spring

summer:

when the spring has sprung: Jacaranda and Biological Science Library at the University of Queensland (UQ)

- SBS channels and other free digital TV channels
SBS is free TV channels usually broadcasting free live sport events including rugby, europe champions league, cricket, tennis etc. which are usually  available only for paid satellite TV channels in other countries. Plus, digital channels mean weather (rain) won't disrupt the view/ channel, unlike astro.

many bridges along the way:

- Coles and woolworths/ wollies

Two major supermarkets selling mainly groceries. Usually every week I read the catalogues and went to both and bought what's on the promotions

coles-supermarket

- Commonwealth Bank Internet Banking
I used ANZ internet banking too, but CBA's is the best in many ways (user friendly, interface, ease of use etc.)

- K Mart and Big W
Almost all household products at cheap price can be found at K Mart, from gaming console bundle to kitchen appliances and Big W is really a good competitor for K Mart. Other retailers such as Dicksmith, JB Hifi, Harvey Norman compete for Apple products, electronic and gaming products.

- Self Checkout Counter
I often got lots of Oz's AUD1, AUD2 and 0.50 coins which make my wallet heavy. Instead of keeping the coins in a bottle at home, I used it at the supermarkets self checkouts and sometimes the coins paid up to 20 dollars.

- The high quality aussie money notes
These notes made of plastic (i guess), rarely i saw these notes cut (terkoyak) and crumble (terperoyok). They hardly wear out too.

- Online surveys
There are lots of online survey panels in aussie, with lots of surveys to do as well. One of them is valued opinion. Did the surveys, then redeemed the points, usually to the coles & kmart gift cards. Alhamdulillah. Get your opinion counted and get rewarded but beware they are fake survey panels too.

- Bulla ice cream and Doritos
Bulla creamy classic in Aussie (~AUD 5 = ~RM 15), in my home country (~RM 30).
Doritos in aussie (~AUD 3 = ~RM9) and in my home country the price is about the same (~RM 9), but looks expensive when convert to ringgit. Luckily, we have our own version of Doritos, Chaco's (taste about the same with doritos and it's cheaper).

- And of course my kind fellow friends and Malaysians in Brissy.

Alhamdulillah.

Feel free to do your own version.
