Acer Predator Gaming Desktop

Is PC gaming dead? You’d think so, with everything from tablet games to the ubiquity of Xbox and Playstation consoles seemingly eating the desktop’s lunch. But listen, hardcore gamers still give a lot of cred to the desktop system’s power and versatility. Acer’s Predator AG3620-UR12 system has plenty of both. We tried it out on everything from iRacing’s demanding simulator to the latest shooters, downloaded easily from an assortment of purchase sites, including steam.com, and not once did the system flinch on the max resolution and speed settings. Credit the system’s 3rd-gen Intel Core i7-3770 processor, its 32 gigs of memory, and its 2 gigs or graphics memory in the video card. Of course, any machine packing this sort of horsepower makes a great general computer—awesome for streaming and photo/video editing, of course—and the Windows 8 interface provides a great boost in connectivity. Plus, with all the focus on console games and their handheld controllers, it’s easy to forget how much more versatile a keyboard/mouse combo is than a buttoned-heavy handheld.
