Samsung saman balas Apple

- Reuters

How to save an extra $100 a month

High interest rates and soaring petrol prices are here to stay. Cut back your spending and take pressure off your family budget. Here are ten easy ways to slash at least $100 from your monthly expenses.

1. Stop buying convenience drinks

Drinks are the number one way Australians waste money. Forget about paying a few dollars for water when you're eating out, ask for a glass of the cheap stuff instead… from the tap. When you're on the run plan ahead and take a water bottle instead of forking out at least $2 every time you want a drink. Also resist expensive energy drinks that are unhealthy and contain high levels of caffeine. Don't forget about coffee. Grab a free cup from home or the work kitchen instead of your $3.50 daily latte from the local cafĂ©.

2. Take your lunch to work

It's hard to buy a basic sandwich and a drink for less than $8 these days. Plan ahead when you're doing your weekly grocery shop and take a healthy packed lunch to work at least three times a week.

3. Get rid of credit

Switch to a debit credit card and avoid interest charges and late payment fees when you don't pay your bill on time. Debit credit cards allow you to use credit card facilities but only let you spend your own money…so you can't go into debt.

4. Cut your mobile phone costs

Get your whole family to use the same mobile phone provider, as many companies offer free or cheap calls to numbers on the same network. If your mobile phone bill is blowing out each month find out if there's a plan that better suits your needs or switch to pre-paid.

5. Call for free over the internet

Forget about shopping around for the best long-distance or international calling rates, get a broadband connection and download an internet calling program like Skype. It allows you to talk to friends and family anywhere in the world online for free.

6. Review your insurance

Save on insurance by having your house, car, life and income protection insurance with the same company. Increase the excess on your house or car policies if you are struggling to meet your monthly premiums.

7. Avoid brand names

We all know brand name clothing can cost the earth and low-price retailers like Target, Kmart and Big W offer good value alternatives… so use them! You can also save a fortune if you buy home brand groceries and generic medicines. They usually have the same ingredients, work in the same way, meet the same Australian standards and are cheaper.

8. Cut down on take away meals

Plan your meals for the week before you go shopping so you don't have to resort to take away food. Home delivery can cost up to $50 for a big family, that really adds up if you do it once a week. If you want a night off from the kitchen buy a frozen dinner from the supermarket or have a BBQ.

9. Give up your gym membership

Gym memberships start at about $25 a week. Instead go running or swimming a few times a week or meet up and exercise with friends on set days.

10. Ditch the car

Save on petrol, parking and road tolls by car pooling with colleagues or catching public transport to work. If you live within 10km of your workplace consider cycling to work and walk to the shops where possible.

How to take advantage of a strong Australian dollar

Australians can take advantage of favourable currency exchange rates by looking overseas for some great buys.

The Australian dollar has hit a new record high this month, soaring to US$1.06 as of mid-April. Despite speculation that the recent Queensland floods would substantially impact its valuation, the strong Aussie dollar looks like it's here to stay awhile. Australians can take advantage of favourable currency exchange rates by looking overseas for some great buys.
Buying Online From Overseas
The internet has made it easy to make purchases from overseas in foreign currency. While Australia lags behind other countries when it comes to online buying, experts are predicting that the recent strength of the Aussie dollar will have online expenditure figures soaring in 2011.
Books, CDs, electronics, gifts and clothing are just some of the goods that Australians are snapping up from international stores and having shipped to their door. Technology items such as computers, laptops and cameras are popular buys for their higher price points and the fact that they don't incur an import tax, unlike cars. Remember, that if you are shopping from overseas to check for any additional charges for international buyers and that the seller does indeed ship to Australia.
Travelling Overseas
Have you always dreamed of wandering through the beautiful cities of Europe or catching a glimpse of the bright lights and movie stars in the US? Now is the perfect time to head overseas and do some international travelling. With airlines competing hard to offer the best fares, Australians will find their dollar going much further at popular destinations like the States. There's no better time than now to plan your trip as experts recommend travelling sooner rather than later.
Meanwhile, if you have a trip planned in the next 6 months or so, it could be worth stocking up and purchasing a portion of the local currency now rather than waiting until you arrive.
Smart Investment & Business
Investors should take a good look at where their investment dollars are tied up and the impact the currency rates could have on business returns. As is the case with most money matters, a strong dollar can have both positive and negative effects depending on the vertical and the nature of a business's operations. Overall, it's a good time to consider foreign investments while some Australian companies may be able to take advantage of the strong dollar by sourcing cheaper resources and suppliers from overseas.
However, other local businesses, especially exporters, may suffer as a result of higher price points that make them less competitive in the international marketplace.
When it comes to getting more bang for your buck, it's about knowing where to spend your money to extract the most value. Money experts are expecting the Australian dollar to remain strong for the coming months so it'll be smart to take advantage of these great exchange rates soon.

La Liga - Ramos drops trophy off parade bus

Sergio Ramos suffered an embarrassing mishap during Real Madrid's celebration of their Copa del Rey triumph when he dropped the trophy off the top of a bus at their victory parade.

Ramos , one of the club captains, had the Cup on top of his head as the bus inched past thousands of Real fans celebrating in the centre of the Spanish capital.
However, as he lowered the silver trophy, which weighs nine kilograms and measures 78 centimetres, it slipped from his grasp and under the front of the open-top vehicle.
"The Cup has fallen, the Cup has fallen," local media quoted him as saying.
Although he added that the trophy was "fine", it was unclear whether it had suffered serious damage.
Cristiano Ronaldo's 103rd-minute header sealed Real's victory over arch rivals Barcelona in Valencia, their first King's Cup win since 1993 and their first trophy under coach Jose Mourinho.

Buah hidangan pemula

Sekiranya anda berpenyakit terutama kencing manis, pastikan mendapat nasihat doktor sebelum memakan buah kerana ia mungkin memudaratkan.
